But Google&#8217;s agenda doesn&#8217;t always align with the reality of the internet. \u00a0Take Flash as an example. \u00a0Adobe Flash has been dying a slow death online; rightfully so in some respects: It has proven to be a security risk and a battery life killer. Google, for that matter, is doing their part by slowly disabling Flash in the Chrome browser. They&#8217;ve defined their timeline, some interesting details\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/chrome\/flash-and-chrome\/\">here<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghacks.net\/2016\/12\/11\/google-chrome-html5-roll-out-plan\/\">here<\/a>. In December 2016 Chrome 55+, they disabled Flash by default, with some exceptions.<\/p>\n<p>As I understood it, there is supposed to be a warning in the browser bar or an ability to enable Flash content in-line on a website, like this:\u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/Tob4zyw.png\" width=\"434\" height=\"246\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But this doesn&#8217;t always work. \u00a0One of my favorite websites, newsmap.jp , a visual tool to view Google News, is one such example where Chrome&#8217;s method of blocking\/prompting to enable flash by default fails. \u00a0The website appears to do a check to see if Flash is installed early on, and prompts you to install it if it doesn&#8217;t detect it right away&#8230; \u00a0See screenshot below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-451\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap-1024x452.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap-1024x452.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap-300x133.png 300w, https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap-768x339.png 768w, https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap-700x309.png 700w, https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap-332x147.png 332w, https:\/\/www.gotsteve.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2017-04-12-05_34_40-Newsmap.png 1177w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s the fix?
