A major water main broke open in my town today – and all the highway traffic from it was diverted back onto my \u00a0small residential street. \u00a0Imagine 3 lane highway traffic all day – trucks, cars, everything- \u00a0backing up the road. \u00a0<\/p>\n

It amazes me to see how people get frustrated with situations like that. \u00a0People honk their horns – but have nowhere to go. \u00a0Pretty useless.<\/p>\n

The northbound lanes of Routes 1 and 9 in Linden were closed today from Stiles Street to Wood Avenue after a water main break flooded the highway, police said.<\/p>\n
The road closed around 11:30 a.m. and will remain shut down until the local water company fixes the problem, said Linden Police Sgt. Andy Bara. There was minor traffic backup, and officers were detouring cars onto local roads, Bara said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
